What the Reddit blackout means for advertisers

It's not great

Welcome to the Thursday before your three-day weekend. June is breezing by. Hopefully your Q2 is going better than linear TV’s.

Google’s New AI Solution Optimizes Video Ad Performance

Google’s launched even more ad solutions using AI, and this time, they’re directed at optimizing video—and the stats are promising. Google found “in early testing, Video View campaigns have achieved an average of 40% more views compared to in-stream skippable cost-per-view campaigns.”

Reddit’s Blackout Will Affect Advertisers

After Reddit announced it would increase API pricing for third-party apps, more than 7,742 subreddits went dark in protest. With decreased access to communities, ad reach also decreases—meaning advertisers will most likely see a decline in ad performance.

Absolut Continues to Support the LGBTQ+ Community

What pairs great with Pride? An Absolut Ally like Absolut Vodka, a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community for over 40 years. Now, Absolut is doubling down on their support by partnering with GLAAD for a “multi-pronged, global initiative” that “will provide educational resources and monetary donations to champion creating safer and more inclusive spaces for the 21+ LGBTQ+ community.”

Marketers Want to Pay Linear TV Networks Less

Advertisers are pressing for lower rates to reach TV viewers in early ‘upfront’ talks with TV networks. Why? Because TV ratings continue to slip—“the continued migration of viewers to streaming and digital-video options is eroding the marketplace leverage of both traditional TV companies and some of their new-tech rivals as well.”
