Google Ads is on an AI spree
Plus: The future of video editing
Hey there! It’s Advertising Week, and as Digiday predicted, “[it] may as well be called Artificial Intelligence Week.” Last year, conversations centered around the metaverse—but in 2023, generative AI is all the rage. And whether you’re attending the conference or keeping up through social, we recommend paying attention to how advertising experts are presenting AI.
In the meantime, we’ve got you covered with this week’s top AI marketing news.
Google’s Next-Gen Discovery Campaigns
Source: Google
Last week, Google rolled out its highly-anticipated Demand Gen campaign tool after four months of beta testing.
This tool uses AI to help marketers create more engaging Google Discovery and YouTube ads—even incorporating YouTube videos and shorts into the content—and includes Google’s audience targeting features and performance insights.
While we still have to see it in action ourselves, Demand Gen has already achieved wild success for its beta testers (like, 300+% increases in CTRs).
How Advertisers Can Tap Into Cultural Moments
Leveraging Google AI (there she goes again), YouTube is launching a game-changing ad tool: “Spotlight Moments.”
This advertising package automatically identifies the top YouTube videos related to a specific cultural moment—anything from a Chiefs game to Thanksgiving—and creates a branded channel with dynamically-updated playlists.
Advertisers can then serve ads across all videos on this channel, tapping into the cultural moment through every trending lens.

Meet CapCut for Business. CapCut for Business is the older sister of the OG easy-to-use video editing app.
It’s designed to help marketers generate ads and branded content with: AI-powered script generation, AI-powered virtual try-ons, and AI-generated presenters who can show off a company's products through demos.

Their new AI Creative Lab will automatically transform one image into many different ad formats, all while maintaining the brand’s essence.
